Six Notes on the Distance Between a Screen and a Golf Course
None of this is content marketing. Each note exists because the same question came up at the desk often enough that writing a careful answer once became more efficient than giving a rushed one repeatedly.

Note 01 11 May
Why the Bay Reads Long, and by How Much
Enclosed carry numbers run optimistic in almost every studio in the country. Four separate mechanisms are responsible, they add rather than cancel, and only one of them is anybody misbehaving.
-
Note 02 3 April
Two Instrument Classes, One Golf Shot
A doppler unit and a photometric camera answer different questions and each infers what the other observes. Knowing which is which changes how you read every row on a fitting sheet.
-
Note 03 19 February
Building a Translation Table Between Bay and Turf
How the offsets that convert an indoor reading into an outdoor expectation are actually derived, why they are club-specific, and the reason they expire after ninety days.
-
Note 04 28 January
Tolerance Bands, Not Single Numbers
A mean with no spread beside it is the most misleading thing that appears on a fitting sheet, and it is on almost every fitting sheet. What a band is, where it comes from, and how to use one.
-
Note 05 6 December
What the Quarterly Lane Check Actually Catches
Four mornings a year, two staff, the same reference clubs, indoors and then outdoors. A record of what has drifted since 2015 and what never has.
-
Note 06 14 November
When the Finding Is That Nothing Should Change
One block in six ends with a recommendation to buy nothing. Here is what that conclusion is built on, why it is the hardest result to deliver, and what we do with the fee.
Start With Note 04
Everything else on this list depends on it. Once you are comfortable with the idea that a measurement is a range rather than a point, the argument about indoor versus outdoor stops being a quarrel about which one is honest and becomes a question of how wide each range is and where the two overlap.
It is also the note that most changes how people read the sheet they get handed anywhere else, which is a reasonable thing for a page on a fitting studio's website to admit to wanting.
Tolerance bands, not single numbers →Questions These Notes Did Not Answer
The desk is better than a search box for anything specific to your bag. Four minutes on the phone settles most of it.
